Who it suits
On an ECN account you see the raw spread as it arrives from our liquidity providers, with no markup added. In exchange you pay a fixed commission per lot.
For an active trader that arithmetic usually works in your favour. A tighter spread on every position, with a known fixed cost attached, is more efficient once your volume passes a certain point. It is also far easier to model. Your cost per lot is a constant rather than a variable that quietly widens when liquidity thins.
The account suits scalpers, high frequency approaches, algorithmic traders running Expert Advisors, and anyone whose strategy depends on capturing small moves where the spread represents a meaningful share of the target.
The trade off is that raw spreads are variable by definition. They can be extremely tight during active sessions and noticeably wider around major releases and at the daily rollover. If you need certainty over tightness, the Standard account is the better fit.
