MetaTrader 5
Multi asset trading with deeper analysis, more timeframes and a faster strategy tester.
Platform overview
MetaTrader 5 is not simply a newer version of MetaTrader 4. It was rebuilt to handle assets beyond currencies, and that shows in almost every part of the platform. You get twenty one timeframes instead of nine, thirty eight built in indicators, forty four graphical objects and six pending order types. Depth of market shows the order book rather than just the top of book price. An economic calendar sits inside the terminal, so you are not switching windows to check what is scheduled for the session. The strategy tester is multi threaded and supports multi currency testing, which makes backtesting a portfolio level approach realistic rather than theoretical. Development uses MQL5, a considerably more capable language than its predecessor. If you trade shares, indices and commodities alongside currencies, MT5 is the natural choice. The one thing to be aware of is that MQL4 code does not run on MT5. If your strategy depends on a specific MT4 Expert Advisor, it will need rewriting.
